Another six Camden County residents have died of complications related to novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and 118 others have been sickened by the virus over the weekend, the Camden County government reported Monday.
Locally, 7,118 residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 349 have died from related complications.
Throughout New Jersey, 164,497 people have been sickened by COVID-19 and 12,214 have perished from related causes.
The statewide average of COVID-19 spot positivity testing stood at 3.6 percent June 4, from about 20,000 recorded samples; in South Jersey, it’s higher, at 5.8 percent.
Spot positivity is a snapshot statistic, and the state’s report excludes serology tests, which can confirm the presence of COVID-19 antibodies, but not whether a patient actively has the virus.
According to the state health dashboard, on June 8, Camden County was fourth among New Jersey counties in new cases of COVID-19, with 27.
Of 7,118 reported local COVID-19 cases, 1,676 (23 percent) have originated in a Camden County LTC facility: 1,222 are residents and 454 are staff.

LTCs are believed to be associated with 74 percent, or 265 of the 349 total deaths in Camden County; 262 were residents and three were staff.
About half the 56 LTCs in Camden County (27) have experienced at least one case of COVID-19.
“Today marks our eighth consecutive day with fewer than 60 new cases in Camden County,” said Camden County Freeholder-Director Lou Cappelli in a statement.
“We had just 12 days in all of April and May below this threshold,” Cappelli said.
“We can keep these numbers down if we continue to keep apart, practice good hand hygiene, and wear a mask when in public,” he said.
“We have to stay vigilant in this fight to prevent a resurgence of coronavirus in our community, and that starts with each of us doing our part to stop the spread,” Cappelli said.
The latest local residents to die from COVID-19-related complications are:
- a Camden City woman in her 60s
- a Cherry Hill Township man in his 60s and woman in her 90s
- a Laurel Springs woman in her 20s
- a Voorhees Township man in his 50s
- a Winslow Township man in his 70s
The newest local cases are:
- an Audubon man in his 40s and woman in her 60s
- a Bellmawr woman in her 30s
- four Berlin women, two in their 90s and one each in her 20s and 50s
- a Brooklawn man in his 20s
- 15 Camden City men, five in their 40s, three each in their 30s and 50s, two in their 20s, a teenage boy and a man in his 70s; and 13 women, five in their 30s, three in their 50s, a young girl, a teenage girl, and one each in her 20s, 40s, and 60s
- nine Cherry Hill men, two each in their 40s, 60s, and 80s, and one each in his 20s, 50s, and 70s; and two women, one each in her 20s and 70s
- a Clementon woman in her 30s
- a Collingswood woman in her 30s and man in his 40s
- a Gibbsboro woman in her 60s
- a Gloucester City woman in her 50s and man in his 60s
- 11 Gloucester Township women, four in their 80s, three in their 60s, two in their 70s, and one each in her 40s and 50s; and seven men, two each in their 30s, 70s, and 80s, and one in his 60s
- a Haddonfield woman in her 20s
- a Laurel Springs woman in her 20s and man in his 60s

The Camden County and New Jersey Health Departments are working to facilitate trace investigations into all cases.
