For more than a decade, the Michnik family of Voorhees has worked to expand healthy dining options in South Jersey.

In that time, their business, Healthy Garden & Gourmet Pizza, has expanded from one location to three.

Their latest satellite, at 747 Haddon Avenue in Collingswood, will hold its grand opening Friday.

Boasting a voluminous menu and long hours, the café serves everything from fresh-fruit juices and smoothies to house-made burgers and specialty pizzas.

Its chief focus, said Larisa Michnik, is delivering “homemade food from natural ingredients,” with a variety of options for those on different diets.

“In Collingswood, a lot of restaurants are either fast food or fine dining,” she said. “We’re fitting all the needs for anybody.”

Want breakfast? There’s organic-egg omelets, egg white platters, and tofu scrambles. Burgers—angus beef, black bean, turkey, chicken, or grilled salmon—are made fresh in-house. Pizzas may be ordered with traditional, whole-wheat, or gluten-free crusts. Vegans can have theirs with Daiya brand cheese substitute.

The comprehensive menu is the result of constant tweaking and adjustments.

“We’re constantly improving ourselves and creating new items,” Larisa Michnik said.

“It’s the best from two worlds: one world is all juices and salads, and the other is pizza and dinners and French fries.”

She wants customers to understand the care that’s taken with the preparation and ingredients in her kitchen.

Soups are made fresh daily; there’s no syrup or sugar added to her smoothies. Fans of their juices can participate in bulk buys with pricing for weekly and monthly purchases.

Everything is cooked to order.

“We present with lots of natural ingredients,” Larisa Michnik said. “We practice a different approach.”

The Michniks believe Healthy Garden will be a good fit for the diverse Collingswood restaurant scene, and their contemporary dining room with its modern feel certainly makes that connection.

The five months spent fitting out the former sushi restaurant from which they took over the space shine through in its clean, warm look.

With an in-house delivery crew, a broad and diverse menu, and operating hours that span all three mealtimes, the restaurant is certainly poised to make an impact.

Healthy Garden Collingswood is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until 10 p.m. on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
