Haddon Township Superintendent of Schools Bonnie Edwards announced her intention to step down as district head in a note to parents.

The Haddon Township school district will search for a new leader at the end of the current school year.
Superintendent Bonnie Edwards, who has held its top post since the retirement of Nancy Ward in 2015, announced her intention to retire in a statement issued last week.
Dear Haddon Township School Community,
I will be retiring from the position of Superintendent of the Haddon Township School District after the conclusion of the school year on July 1, 2020.
When I was invited to join the Haddon Township team in 2011 as the Director of Special Services, I knew immediately that this was a community I wanted to serve. In 2015, it was both an honor and a privilege to be appointed as your Superintendent of Schools. My appreciation for this unique school community has only grown as I’ve interacted more broadly with students, parents, staff members, community members and leaders.
The steadfast support demonstrated on behalf of our students is indeed something special. While the time has come for me to take on new challenges, I will always consider my years in Haddon Township a highlight of my career in public education. I deeply appreciate all of the support this community has shown throughout our shared efforts and look forward to seeing all of the wonderful things that will be accomplished on behalf of our students in the future.
I am looking forward to all we will accomplish during this school year and will work to ensure a smooth transition for the district as the year progresses.

Edwards declined to discuss her retirement plans or the process for selecting her replacement.
