A 20-year-old Pennsauken man is in police custody after allegedly chasing another man in his car and shooting him.
Jermaine Young faces multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO), Young allegedly saw his victim, a 22-year-old man, driving a vehicle near the intersection of 45th Street and Jackson Avenue in Pennsauken on March 15.
Detectives allege that Young drove after the victim’s car and fired multiple shots at him, striking him at least once. The investigation began when the victim checked into an area hospital with an apparent gunshot wound just before 2 p.m. that day, the CCPO said in a statement.
Young was arrested March 19 in Pennsauken by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division, and has been remanded to the Camden County Jail pending a pretrial detention hearing.
Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. An arrest is not a conviction.
