The local death toll hit 96 Wednesday, as 2,312 Camden County residents have been sickened by the virus.

Ten more Camden County residents have perished from complications related to novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the county government announced Wednesday.
Their deaths bring the local total of lives lost during the pandemic to 96.
The latest to pass ranged in age from their 60s to their 90s, and hailed from six different Camden County municipalities.
They were:
- a Bellmawr man in his 70s
- a Berlin Borough man in his 80s
- a Camden City man and woman in their 60s and 70s, respectively
- two Cherry Hill women in their 70s, one in her 90s, and two men in their 80s
- a Gloucester Township woman in her 60s
- a Voorhees man in his 60s
The statewide total hit 95,865 cases and 5,063 lives lost, Governor Phil Murphy announced in his Wednesday briefing.
Murphy also marked the passing of 314 more residents due to complications related to the virus, as the statewide total climbed to 5,063 lives lost in the pandemic.
While grieving the dead, Camden County Freeholder-Director Lou Cappelli said the county government is “continuing to focus on securing testing access for as many of our residents as possible, and on addressing the critical lack of preparedness and resources in long-term care facilities where this disease has wreaked havoc.
“As we look around the country at states that are beginning to ease restrictions, we cannot lose sight of why we remain under stay-at-home orders,” Cappelli said in a statement.
“We cannot afford a second surge in cases, and we do not yet have the testing capacity to reopen for select individuals. The only way to keep ourselves safe at this time continues to be social distancing and staying home.”
The newest local cases are:
- an Audubon woman in her 40s
- an Audubon Park man in his 50s
- a Berlin Township man in his 60s
- a Brooklawn woman in her 20s
- 25 Camden City men, eight in their 30s, five each in their 40s and 50s, three each in their 20s and 60s, and one man in his 70s; and 18 women, five in their 60s, four in their 20s, three in their 70s, and two each in their 30s, 40s, and 50s
- seven Cherry Hill men, three in their 80s, and one each in his 20s, 40s, 50s, and 70s; and six women, four in their 80s, and one each in her 60s and 70s
- two Clementon men in their 40s, and a woman in her 40s
- a Collingswood man in his 20s
- two Gloucester Township men, one each in his 20s and 50s; a woman in her 70s, and a teenaged girl
- a Haddon Township woman in her 50s
- a Lawnside woman in her 60s
- three Lindenwold women, two in their 20s and one in her 30s; and three men, two in their 40s, and one in his 50s
- a Merchantville woman in her 30s
- five Pennsauken women, three in their 50s, and one each in her 20s and 40s; and two men in their 60s
- a Runnemede woman in her 50s
- a Somerdale woman in her 20s
- three Voorhees Township women, one each in her 30s, 50s, and 70s; and a boy
- three Winslow Township women, one each in her 20s, 40s, and 50s; and two men, one each in his 20s and 60s
- a Woodlynne man in his 50s, and woman in her 30s
The Camden County and New Jersey Health Departments are working to facilitate trace investigations into all cases.
