He reiterated the cautions to wear a mask and minimize gatherings, adding that residents should register on the state portal for a vaccination as soon as they become eligible.

Throughout New Jersey, 537,115 people have been sickened by COVID-19, and 17,980 have perished from causes related to the virus. In addition to those lab-confirmed fatalities, the state also recognizes another 2,059 probable COVID-19-related deaths.

LTC cases and deaths

Long-term care (LTC) facilities account for less than half of all deaths in the state and 10 percent of those infected, and new cases continue to occur there.

Of 31,992 reported local COVID-19 cases, 3,220 (10 percent) have originated in a Camden County LTC facility: 2,099 are residents and 1,121 are staff.

LTCs are believed to be associated with 52 percent, or 426 of 815 total deaths in Camden County: 423 were residents and three were staff.

At this time, 29 of the 56 LTCs in Camden County are experiencing an active outbreak of COVID-19.
