Barrington Fire Chief Richard Rettinger has been charged with multiple sexual offenses against a minor.

The 42-year-old was arrested February 28 in his borough home, and was charged with second-degree sexual assault, multiple counts of criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child.

“The offenses are alleged to have occurred in [Rettinger’s] Barrington home,” according to a statement released by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office (CCPO).

Rettinger is being held at the Camden County Jail pending a pretrial detention hearing. Ken Baus is now acting fire chief for the borough.

The investigation is considered to be ongoing, and anyone with additional information is asked to call CCPO Det. Aquasia Davis at 856-225-8542.

All persons charged with a crime are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
